August card swap

The idea for the theme for August's card swap was to make a card for men. It always seems difficult to make cards for the men in our lives, but the participants in this month's challenge did really well!

June card swap cards

The theme for June's card swap was Kid's Birthday Cards, and the ideas were all very different and really good! There is one more image to be added in of a really awesome card made by Jan, which has certainly inspired me to try something new!

The July card swap theme was Christmas in July, and we will have photos of them up shortly.

The August card theme is Male cards, always something difficult to come up with!

Our very first craft weekend!

How does a weekend away sound? A weekend where you can craft to your hearts content, eat good food, breathe in fresh country air, and share in some good company without any disturbances?

If all of that sounds good to you, then you are welcome to join us at the inaugural Point Cook Papercraft Retreat. The basic details are:

Date: 6 to 8 November 2009
Where: Upper Plenty Conference Centre
Cost: $160 ($145 with early bird discount - see below for details)

If you are interested in attending we will need to confirm our booking by June 30, and we will require a $20 non refundable deposit by that date.

Where we are going:

The retreat will be held at the Upper Plenty Conference Centre which is located approximately 50 kms from Melbourne in a natural bushland setting. From Point Cook this is a pleasant drive of about an hour. The nearest towns are Whittlesea, Wallan and Kinglake. One of the main reasons why we have chosen this site is due to it's proximity to the recent bushfires, and we see this as an opportunity to give in a very real way in the area that was so badly affected by the Black Saturday bushfires. We have recently been up to view the site, and found it quite moving as we drove through the fire affected areas. It was amazing to see the distinct line where the fires stopped 20 metres away from the buildings at the campsite, and to drive through areas like Kinglake to see the work that is happening to try and rebuild these communities.

The accommodation will be dormitory style but don't worry about having to climb up to the top bunk as we will have room to spread out throughout the campsite. If you have special requirements please let us know as we will endeavour to accommodate your needs. There are also dedicated areas that we will be able to unpack our craft gear and leave it set up for the whole weekend.

All attendees will be supplied with directions on how to reach the campsite. We will also be willing to facilitate car pooling if that is required.

What does the cost include?

The full cost of the weekend is $160. This includes all accommodation, all food, two workshops, plus a goodie bag.

We have heard the food is fantastic, but more importantly you don't have to do any of the work! Once again, if you have special dietary requirements please let us know, and these will be taken into consideration.

Early Bird Offer

If you book and pay in full by September 30, then the early bird discount price that will apply will be $145. Payment will be accepted via cash and EFT. Please contact Karen for the details.

Invite your friends

There is plenty of space, so please feel free to invite your friends if you think they may enjoy this opportunity. We are aiming to have a fun, relaxing, sociable time together.

Watch this space for ongoing updates about the retreat!

Very exciting news!

May is a new product release month for Kaszazz with some travel themed and beach themed papers and stamps. I was very excited to learn that Kaszazz has also released a new catalogue - 176 pages filled with new products and exciting project ideas.

To view the catalogue please click here.

A free copy of the new catalogue will be given to all those who attend the next workshop. If you can't attend the next workshop, but would like a copy, please contact Karen using the email address in the sidebar. The new catalogue price is $5.95, and I will have additional copies available for purchase.

Please note that there are some items that have increased in price with effect from 1 June, so if you would like to place an order using the old prices I need to have those orders by. Also please note that there are some discontinued lines so if there is anything in particular that you wanted to get hold of that isn't in the new catalogue, then all orders for those items need to be sent to me before 21 June.

A number of products have grown old and tired and will
soon be retiring, and some have been deleted by our
suppliers. If for some reason we cannot supply the item of your
choice, we will supply a very generous substitute with an
equal or higher RRP value.

The main groups of retired products are;

• Pebbles Inc. Scrapbookits
• Pebbles Inc. Foam Stamps
• Chipboard Tab Journals
• SB Cheeky range
• Assorted Ribbon packs (now available in 2m pieces)

April Card Swap

One of the things that we are going to try to do each month is to put up a slideshow of the cards that were made for the card swap. It is not the same as having the cards in your hands though, so why not participate in a future card swap.

In April, the theme was "Autumn"

Kaszazz Conference

Kym and I attended the Kaszazz conference on the weekend of the 14th & 15th of March. We had a great time and I have to say, I am very excited by the new product range that has just been released. We were able to sample some of the new products and made the Bella Friendship Album and the Whimsical Love – page and pocket 12x12 layout, both new two hour workshops. I will have the layouts at the next workshop for you to look out if you haven't already seen it!

The theme for the conference was Hollywood glitz and glamour and on the Saturday night we were able to enjoy a great dinner, where there we many “Marilyns” present!!! It was a great opportunity to put names and faces together and meet some of the people who have created the workshops that I enjoy teaching.

Card Swap

At our last workshop, I announced the theme for our next card swap, being Autumn.

Thank you to those who have volunteered to participate in the swap. We have had 8 volunteers to participate in the swap. This means that you will need to make 8 cards of your design. Remember to put your name on the back, so we can admire your work.

We will be sure to post pictures so you can see everyone's designs on the blog as well.

What is Card Swap? You can find all the details here! Why not have a go next month?

Hope you take some time for some rest and relaxation this week to rejuvenate those creative juices. Wishing you all a happy and safe Easter.

Hope you are all well and have had some time to get the creative juices flowing. Can you believe that February is nearly over? I don't know about you but this year seems to be going on fast forward!!

A very BIG thank you to everyone who came to the February workshop. It was great to see everyone chatting and enjoying making their cards. For those who weren't able to attend we make these "5 projects quick" cheeky cards. For one of the cards we used glitter and I think everyone went home with some sparkle in their clothes (ah the fun)! Congratulations to Alison who won the door prize.

Birthday Girls!!!

A very happy birthday to those who celebrated their special day this month. You know who you are! We hope you enjoyed your day and were treated like a princess!

This month we will be making these “all boys cards” as requested by those at the last workshop. (Please click on the image below for a closer look at these cards.

For those of you who have not done any card making before, I will take you through the basics and show you step by step how easy it can be! For all the details of what to bring please click here.

To book your place please email me by not later than Sunday 15th of March, so I can order enough stock to prepare your kit. Please book early as spaces are limited!!

Kaszazz Conference

Kym and I are very excited as the weekend before our next workshop we will be attending the annual Kaszazz conference. The theme for the conference is "Hollywood - Glitz & Glamour". We have also had a sneak peak of one of the products coming out in a "mini" new product release and we’re excited and we think you will be too.

Come to the workshop on Friday the 20th and we'll be able to tell you all about it!!!

Card swap

At the March workshop we will be releasing the details for our next card swap. I know that those who participated in the card swaps last year really enjoyed them.

If you are unable to come to the workshop, but would like to participate please let me know prior to the workshop so I can include you.

For those of you who have not participated in the card swap, the idea is that you make enough cards for the number of people participating in the swap based on the theme provided. Everyone will then exchange their cards, with the aim that you should receive some great cards and some new ideas.

Kaszazz Customer Product of the Month

This month when you purchase a tub of daisy flowers (contains 100) for $19.95 you will receive a packet (12) of ½” polka dot brands free!!

Scrapbooking Workshop

For those of you who have expressed an interest in scrapbooking workshops, we haven’t forgotten you. At the moment we are homeless and are currently exploring venues to have the scrapbooking workshops. The Jamieson Way Community Centre is booked every Friday night. We do have some ideas and will let you know as soon as we have secured a location.

Tip for the Month

When using the Kaszazz double sided tape, you can tear it rather than cutting it. This will save time and ensure that you can get you projects completed quicker.

Well that’s enough from me. Hope you take some time for some rest and relaxation this week to rejuvenate those creative juices.

I look forward to seeing you on the 20th of March. Bye for now.

Karen

February workshop details

I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who came out in the extreme heat to the new product launch held on January 30th. While we did intend for the evening to take on a different format than our usual workshop nights, we did not plan for the mood lighting and the alfresco atmosphere. (That's code for power blackout resulting in us sitting outside enjoying the breeze) It was enjoyable to spend some time chatting and enjoying each others company.

We are hoping that for the brief time we were able to see the workshop samples that have been made, we were able to excite the creativity that lies within!!!

February workshop will be held on Friday the 13th of February at the Jamieson Way Community Centre. This month we will be making the "Cheeky Card Workshop". The Cost for the workshop is $20. These five card will include stamping with inks, paint dabbers and rollagraphing, embossing and using a range of Kaszazz ribbons to embellish the cards. For details of what to bring (if you have them) please click here.

Previous Tips of the Month

Have you missed the previous Tip of the Month? Never fear, we will have them all here for you!

  • When using the Kaszazz double sided tape, you can tear it rather than cutting it. This will save time and ensure that you can get you projects completed quicker

  • Always store your ink pads upside down. This will ensure the ink remains at the top of the pad ready for when you next stamp.
